K'Andre Miller

K'Andre Miller

26-Year-Old DefensemanD
Carolina Hurricanes
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Miller collected seven goals, 27 points, 110 shots, 110 blocks and 107 hits across 74 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He has surpassed 100 hits and 100 blocks in three straight campaigns, but he has been trending in the wrong direction offensively since posting a career-high 43 points in 79 outings in 2022-23. Miller had offseason surgery to repair an upper-body injury, but he should be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season. The 25-year-old defender was dealt to the Hurricanes in the summer and has plenty of bounce-back potential this campaign. His category coverage should make him an attractive depth option for fantasy managers. Read Past Outlooks

Extends point streak
DCarolina Hurricanes
May 9, 2026
Miller picked up an assist in a 3-2 overtime win against the Flyers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference second round.
ANALYSIS
It extended Miller's point streak to three games and three helpers. He has chipped in six assists during Carolina's 8-0 start to the postseason. Miller came off a 37-point regular season, his first with Carolina. He leads all Carolina defenders in playoff scoring by a wide margin. Jalen Chatfield, Shayne Gostisbehere, Sean Walker and Mike Reilly sit second in offensive production with two points each.

Miller had eight goals and 30 points in 80 regular-season contests with the Rangers in 2023-24, which is a solid showing, but does represent a notable decline from his 43-point 2022-23 campaign. The main issue with Miller from a fantasy perspective is he receives little to no power-play ice time, which puts a cap on his offensive potential. Unless his circumstances change, it would be best to pencil him in for 30-40 points this season. It's important to note that he will contribute in other categories too, likely providing 40-60 PIM, 100-125 blocked shots and 140-175 hits. The 24-year-old will also probably have a positive plus-minus rating given the strength of the Rangers.
Miller enjoyed a breakout year in 2022-23, erupting for nine goals, 34 assists, 162 hits, 105 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating in 79 contests. Once a forward in high school, Miller's still got enough scoring instincts to be a valuable fantasy defenseman, especially combined with his solid defense and physical play. Miller saw just 31 seconds per game on the power play last year. If he can more firmly establish himself on the second power-play unit, that would further increase his value. The 23-year-old likely still has another level to his game, but even if he hovers around the 40-45 point mark, he'll be a solid No. 3 or 4 fantasy blueliner for 2023-24. If he's able to take his power-play production to the next level, Miller will jump to a higher tier this year.
Miller was the only Ranger to play in all 82 regular season games last season. He posted seven goals and 20 points, but looking at Miller's offensive numbers doesn't tell the entire story. The No. 22 overall pick from 2018 was a force in all three zones, particularly late in the season and throughout the playoffs. Miller will never be a huge fantasy asset because Adam Fox is running New York's No. 1 power-play unit, but his value to the Rangers is immeasurable. Scheduled for restricted free agency next summer and still just 22 years old, Miller is either going to get a bridge deal from the team, or, more likely, a big money long-term contract.
Outside of Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox, Miller was probably the Rangers' most pleasant surprise a season ago. The former No. 22 overall pick (2018) forced his way onto the New York roster with a strong training camp and went on to play in 53 of 56 regular-season games, primarily while paired with veteran Jacob Trouba. Miller ended up being named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team on the strength of a campaign which saw him post 5 goals, 12 points, 62 shots, 93 hits, 77 blocks and a plus-9 rating. Miller's upside is through the roof given his physical gifts and the fact he won't turn 22 years of age until late January, but he's still a much better fantasy option in keeper/dynasty leagues as opposed to redraft formats.
Miller has done nothing but grow his stock as a prospect since being selected 22nd overall in the 2018 draft. He converted from forward to defenseman in high school and quickly showed an aptitude for his new position at the University of Wisconsin, using his 6-foot-5, 210-pound frame and excellent skating ability to stifle opposing chances. It's a matter of when, not if, he makes the Rangers' roster, and Miller could well be penciled into the lineup from the get-go, especially considering the team's dearth of alternatives on the left side of the blue line. That said, his focus will primarily be on the defensive aspects of the game, especially early on, so Miller's unlikely to deliver the type of point total in 2020-21 fantasy managers look for from defensemen.
