Blair posted a one-under 70 in the final round of the John Deere Classic to finish in a share of ninth with Zach Johnson and Ryo Hisatsune.
ANALYSIS
Blair opened the tournament strongly with a bogey-free, eight-under 63 that included a five-under back nine with three birdies and an eagle. He followed that up with rounds of 68-67 to enter Sunday in the top-3 of the leaderboard. While he couldn't replicate his earlier success in the final round, Blair's earlier work was enough for him to secure his best finish since his T8 at the Puerto Rico Open in early March. He carded only five bogeys for the tournament (T5) and ranked fifth in SG: Approach, sixth in SG: Around, T10 in GIR and T16 in driving accuracy, though he also lost 2.12 strokes off the tee (69th). Blair will tee off at the ISCO Championship next week, where he's made the cut in each of his six prior outings, including a T2 finish in a five-man playoff loss in 2024.

Blair is one of the shortest hitters on Tour, but one thing he could always rely upon was the putter. Well that was not the case in 2024 as he ranked 120th in SG: Putting and 123rd in putts per GIR. That resulted in just four top-25 finishes, however two of them were actually top-five results. Blair's approach play definitely improved as the year went on, but with how many strokes he loses off the tee, that's always going to be tough to make up from just a ball-striking perspective. If Blair is unable to get back to consistently gaining strokes on the greens, there isn't much reason to think about him in salary cap formats.
