2026 Fantasy Outlook
Lowry put together another solid campaign in 2025, but noticeably failed to win an individual event on the PGA Tour for the sixth straight season. In fact his last such victory was his triumph at the 2019 Open Championship. Lowry came close on two different occassions with runner-up finishes at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Truist Champioship, bested by Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy and Sepp Straka, respectively. Lowry finished the season top 30 in both SG: Total and adjusted scoring average. It was another great ball striking season as Lowry landed inside the top 5 in SG: Approach, but it was the third consecutive year that he failed to crack the top 100 in SG: Putting. Lowry isn't getting any younger at age 38, but he certainly still has the tools to win when he puts it all together. He needs to get off to a fast start in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Misses cut in Scotland
Lowry missed the cut by two strokes at the Genesis Scottish Open following his one-under 69 in the second round.
ANALYSIS
Lowry ended Friday's round nicely with three birdies over his last eight holes, but it wasn't enough for him to overcome his one-over 71 opening round to qualify for the weekend. The Irishman gained 2.69 strokes in his approach play across his two rounds but lost 1.53 strokes with his putter while connecting on just 13 of 26 fairways. Lowry has failed to crack the top-20 in his 13 tournaments since his T2 performance at the Cognizant Classic in early March, missing the cut in five of those outings. He'll work on his game ahead of next week's Open Championship, which he won in 2019 for his lone major victory. Lowry finished T40 in last year's Open but missed the cut in 2017, when the tournament was last hosted by this year's venue, Royal Birkdale.

Lowry has developed into one of the top iron players on Tour. He ranked 12th in SG: Approach in 2024, which marked the the fourth straight season he ranked in the top-30 of that category. The surprising thing is that Lowry had another poor season from a short game perspective, ranking outside the top-100 in SG: Around-the-Green and SG: Putting. He's only two seasons removed from ranking third in scrambling on the PGA Tour. Nevertheless, 2024 saw Lowry win his first PGA Tour event since his 2019 Open Championship triumph when he partnered with Rory McIlroy to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Lowry added six other top-10 finishes, with two of those coming in majors. His accuracy off the tee and approach give him a pretty high floor, but short game issues again could lead threaten his ceiling in 2025.
