2026 Fantasy Outlook
Hughes had a break out season in 2023 when he picked up his second PGA Tour victory, earned over $4 million and finished 13th on the FedExCup list. The two seasons since, however, he's failed to build upon that season. His two most recent seasons resemble many of the season prior to 2023, which would indicate that 2023 was truly an outlier. Hughes hasn't finished the season outside the top 70 since 2019, so a dramatic drop-off is unlikely, but a significant improvement on his number from this past year is unlikely as well. As such, he's not a great salary cap option this season. Read Past Outlooks
Missed cut at TCHO
Hughes did not make the cut at the Texas Children's Houston Open after posting a one-under cumulative score.
ANALYSIS
Hughes needed a birdie on the par-3 ninth hole to make it to the weekend, but his 18-foot birdie but missed the cup by less than a foot. The 35-year-old Canadian has missed the cut in two of his last three tournaments and has finished in the top-30 in just two of eight Tour events this season. Hughes will tee off at the Valero Texas Open, where he missed the cut in both 2017 and 2018 before finishing T42 in 2019, which was his last appearance at TPC San Antonio.

After six solid seasons on the PGA Tour (with the exception of 2018), Hughes finally had a breakout year in 2023 when he picked up his second victory and earned over $4.3 million. He came back down to Earth a bit in 2024, however, as he failed to crack the $4 million mark. His numbers overall were similar this past year, maybe even a little better on the whole, but he was just missing a win. It's amazing what a win can do to a golfer's annual numbers. The question for Hughes is, can he find that upside again this season? Considering he's posted at least one top-3 finish 7/8 seasons on the PGA Tour, it seems likely that he'll give himself enough chances to find another win this season. If so, his numbers should resemble 2023, if not, it will be more like 2024. Either way. he's a fairly safe player to back this season, with a decent upside.
