2026 Fantasy Outlook
Vegas joined the PGA Tour 16 years ago, and in that time he's had four seasons outside the top 125, two seasons inside the top 30, four wins and 14 top-10s. In other words, he's been all over the place, and if you're looking for some consistency, you need to look elsewhere. Vegas has posted two of his best seasons as a pro since turning 40, but his last year prior to turning 40, was one of his worst. In fact, a pattern has developed over the past six seasons, one of a really bad season, followed by two good seasons, then repeat. If that pattern holds, he's due for a down year. Whether or not the pattern holds, Vegas' upside just isn't high enough to justify a salary cap selection this season. Read Past Outlooks
T14 in Houston
Vegas finished tied for 14th at the Texas Children's Houston Open after posting a 10-under cumulative score.
ANALYSIS
Vegas was consistent at Memorial Park, finishing with a 67-67-68-68 scorecard. He ranked third in the field in GIR, 10th in SG: Approach and 12th in both birdies made and SG: Putting, but he finished near the bottom in SG: Around-the-Green and driving accuracy. Vegas finished 44th or worse in each of his first four Tour events of the season (including two missed cuts), but he has gone T18-MC-T14 over his last three outings. He's in the field for the Valero Texas Open next week, where he's made the cut in six of 11 prior outings, with his T18 in 2022 being his best finish at TPC San Antonio.

Vegas might be the most obscure 4-time winner on the PGA Tour. The reason for that obscurity is that he's never really built upon a win before. He did have two seasons, about a decade ago, where he landed in the top-30 at the end of the season, but outside of that, he's generally been in the 70-100 range. He's also had a few stinkers as well, but his worst seasons have generally been attributed to injuries and a lower number of events. Vegas is now in his 40s, and while he'll inevitably start to slow down soon, he could still have a couple solid seasons left. The problem is, his best seasons haven't been much better than what he did this past year, so it's unlikely he shows a significant improvement this season.
