Dean Burmester

Dean Burmester

36-Year-Old Golfer
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Burmester finished fifth in the LIV Golf individual season standings in 2025 thanks to his four top-5 finishes (including a victory at LIV Golf Chicago, when he outlasted Jon Rahm and Jose Ballester on the first playoff hole). Burmester’s accuracy off the tee (46th in LIV Golf at 51.96 percent) was his one major weakness, as he finished in the top-12 in birdies made, driving distance, putting and GIR. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship before finishing T61 at The Open in 2025. He will need to earn his way into major tournaments in 2026 through qualifying events or strong play in the breakaway league. Read Past Outlooks
Tied for sixth in South Africa
March 22, 2026
Burmester posted a five-under 66 in the final round of LIV Golf South Africa to finish tied with David Puig for sixth.
ANALYSIS
Burmester surged up the leaderboard after going 13-under across Friday and Saturday. He opened the final round with four consecutive birdies, but the South African was unable to maintain that level of play over the final 14 holes of the day, going one-over in that span. Burmester led the field in scrambling opportunities while ranking T6 in birdies made and in the top-20 in both GIR and driving distance. He has finished in the top-20 in each of the last four LIV Golf tournaments and sits 11th in the individual standings with 115.70 points. The next LIV Golf event starts April 16 in Mexico.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2023
Looking at Burmester’s stats for the 2024 LIV Golf season, nothing really stands out other than perhaps his driving distance and scrambling percentage. However, the South African was one of the top performers in the first half of the season with three top-three finishes over the first six tournaments, including a playoff victory over Sergio Garcia at LIV Golf Miami. Burmester failed to crack the top-15 over the last seven LIV Golf tournaments, but he still managed to finish ninth in the LIV Golf individual season standings with 95.90 points. Burmester had relative success in the majors, making the cut in all three events (T12 at the PGA Championship, T69 at the U.S. Open Championship, T19 at the Open Championship). Burmester is guaranteed to be in the field for the PGA Championship in 2025 thanks to his placement in 2024.
Burmester's summer was highlighted by back-to-back top-15s at the Genesis Scottish Open and the Open Championship in July, but it was his performance throughout the Korn Ferry Tour Finals that earned him a PGA Tour card for 2022-23. The 33-year-old South African notched top-5 results at both the Albertsons Boise Open and the KFT Championship to comfortably join the Finals 25. He resides top 70 in the Official World Golf Ranking ahead of the upcoming fall series.
