2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ortiz’s performance during the 2025 LIV Golf league established him as a top-10 player in the breakaway tour. He wasn’t able to win a tournament as he did in 2024 at LIV Golf Houston, but he finished in the top 10 in six tournaments (including four top-5 performances) while ranking in the top 15 in the field in GIR, driving distance, birdies made and putts per hole. Ortiz qualified for two of the four major championships in 2025, and while he failed to make the cut at The Open, he played himself into contention at the U.S. Open Championship before finishing tied for fourth. Thanks to his performance at Oakmont, Ortiz is guaranteed a spot in both The Masters and the U.S. Open in 2026 and will look to earn qualification to the PGA Championship and The Open. Solo eighth in South Africa
Ortiz posted a five-under 66 in the final round of LIV Golf South Africa to finish solo eighth with a 21-under cumulative score.
ANALYSIS
Ortiz scored four-under par or better in each round in South Africa, including back-to-back six-under 65 scores Friday and Saturday. He opened the final round nicely with three birdies through the first four holes, though his momentum was halted by back-to-back bogeys on holes six and seven. Ortiz ranked top-10 in birdies made and putts per hole but was middle-of-the-pack in driving accuracy and GIR. He has three top-15 finishes through five LIV Golf tournaments, with his solo sixth in Hong Kong being his best performance of the season. Ortiz's next appearance will take place at The Masters that starts April 9. It will be his second career appearance at Augusta National, and he'll look to improve on his debut outing in 2021, when he went 10-over par in the first round to miss the cut by six strokes.
