Ben Silverman

37-Year-Old Golfer
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Following four consecutive years on the Korn Ferry Tour, Silverman made his return to the PGA Tour and made a respectable 18-of-25 cuts (72 percent) but only turned one of them into a top-10. The Canadian ranked eighth in SG: Putting for the season, and his recipe for success is built on hitting fairways and making putts. Across three seasons on Tour, Silverman has managed only two top-5s, as he's held back by his lack of distance and below average iron play. Fantasy managers are probably best advised to look elsewhere, with Silverman only viable on shorter venues against weaker competition. Read Past Outlooks
Rare putting struggles at ZOZO
October 30, 2024
Silverman carded a one-over 71 on Sunday at the ZOZO Championship to finish four-under and tied for 46th.
ANALYSIS
Silverman played his final two holes of the tournament in three-under-par, thanks in part to an eagle on the par-5 18th where he made a 28-footer from just off the green. One of the best putters on the PGA Tour, Silverman actually lost strokes with the flat stick throughout his week in Japan, marking his first negative SG: Putting performance since THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in early May. As a result of his T46 finish, the Canadian dropped four spots to No. 106 in the FedExCup Fall standings.

He's yet to record a single top-5 finish through his first 62 career PGA Tour starts, but Silverman found the winner's circle on the Korn Ferry Tour this past season at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic back in January, and he finished the 2023 KFT campaign with just two missed cuts in 17 events played. The 36-year-old Canadian led the KFT in par-4 scoring, aided by a ranking of ninth in putting average. However, Silverman's past struggles against stronger competition indicate a low ceiling for his 2024 projection.
Playing in his first full season on the PGA Tour, Silverman earned two top-10s and showcased his driving accuracy and putting prowess, earning positive marks in strokes gained: off-the-tee and strokes gained: putting. Both top-10s came in the 2017 portion of the season but he did post three other top-15s later in the year in weaker-fielded events. Silverman bloomed later in his career and now sits at age 30 with limited PGA Tour experience, so it's best to avoid him in all types of leagues considering his low upside.
Silverman missed 11 of 16 cuts during a disappointing 2016 Web.com campaign, but finally broke through with a win at the 2017 Price Cutter Charity Championship to earn his PGA Tour card after finishing 10th in the Web.com's regular season money list. He ranked top-25 on the Web.com Tour in birdie average and GIR percentage, despite placing outside of the top-60 in terms of total driving. There could be a learning curve for Silverman out of the gate as a rookie, having appeared in just one PGA Tour event during his career when he missed the cut at the RBC Canadian Open in 2014.
