2026 Fantasy Outlook
Smotherman made 76 total starts on the PGA Tour from 2021 to 2024 before spending his 2025 campaign on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he posted seven top-10s and 13 top-25s across 24 starts, highlighted by a couple wins at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and the Memorial Health Championship. The 31-year-old ranked top 8 among his KFT peers in total driving, driving accuracy and GIR percentage, but 29.71 putts per round probably won't get the job done at the next level. Smotherman's momentum also waned down the stretch, placing no better than T38 throughout his last six outings, which included a trio of missed cuts as well. Read Past Outlooks

2022
Smotherman struggled last season missing 17 cuts in his 34 events played. The 29-year-old is well below average in all SG metrics except for SG: Off-the-Tee as he finished outside the top-20 in all event but one. The lone positive result on the season came from a fifth-place finish at the Mexico Open at Vidanta.
Smotherman is a player that, in his brief career, has excelled at making cuts but has yet to truly contend at an elite level. He made the weekend in over 68 percent of his 2022 events but only claimed one top 20 finish. If he can start to play well past Friday, the 28-year-old could have a strong sophomore season. Notably, the SMU product still struggles with his short game on occasion, so look for him to improve that part of his game in the offseason.
Smotherman clutched up with three straight finishes of T26 or better to end the regular season on the Korn Ferry Tour just inside the top 25 of the points list, ultimately securing his card for the first time. His ball-striking metrics indicate it shouldn't have been such a sweat for the SMU product, however, as he ranked seventh on the KFT in GIR percentage and eighth in total driving. Such quality tee-to-green play represents a high ceiling, though his short-game struggles might cause a handful of missed cuts at the PGA Tour level as he adjusts to new venues.
