Adam Schenk

Schenk entered this past season as a typical journeyman. He'd spent most of his five seasons on the PGA Tour hovering around the 100th spot on the FedEx list, good enough to keep his card each season, but rarely anything spectacular. That all changed over the span of two months this past year when Schenk posted two runner-ups and a top-10 in an elevated event. The result was a career high in earnings and a spot in the TOUR Championship. Schenk improved his GIR and his short game this past year, something that seems to be repeatable in the years ahead, so a major regression should not be in the near future. He's still a risky salary cap pick at this price since he misses a lot of cuts for someone inside the top-30.

After coming on strong in the summer of 2021, Schenk started the new year off slow with 10 missed cuts in 13 events before finding his form. Ultimately, it was still a disappointing season in which he went from 87th in strokes-gained total to 139th. His scrambling leaves a lot to be desired but the ball-striking is good enough for him to keep his card for another year.

Schenk looked like a longshot to make the FedEx Cup Playoffs, but he found some form late in the 2020-21 season and took advantage of some weaker field events to retain his card for another year. He doesn't do anything particularly great, but he gets the most out of his game and has made the cut in 64 percent of his starts the last three seasons. The lack of upside makes Schenk a suboptimal season-long fantasy option.

Schenk qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs for a second consecutive season, but once again was unable to make enough headway to make the top 70 into the BMW Championship. He was a workhorse, playing 24 events in the shortened season, but was unable to crack the top 10 in a single event despite 15 made cuts. His game does appear to be trending in the right direction, with six straight made cuts. His driving accuracy improved to help him make gains in SG: Off-the-tee, where he went from 91st last season to 47th.

Schenk was a rookie in 2017, but he failed to crack the top-125 or even the top-150. He managed to get some starts early in the fall portion of the season last year though and took full advantage. A couple top-20s led to more starts, which led to more success. By the end of the season, Schenk had three top-10s in all and nearly $1.2 million in earnings. Schenk had plenty of success against softer fields, but he also played well in spots against stronger fields. Schenk might have another gear, but obviously we haven't seen it yet. He's worth a look in salary cap leagues, but there are probably better options at this price.

Schenk collected just one top-10 in his 2017-18 rookie campaign, and sadly it was in the Zurich 2-man event where he needed the help of teammate Tyler Duncan to pull off the feat. The positive here is that Schenk is a long hitter and was an above average putter on the PGA Tour this season, but don't expect him to make a huge leap this season. Expect around $500,000 in earnings and a return to the Web.com Tour Finals where he'll need to fight for his card yet again.

Through two generally successful seasons on the Web.com Tour, Schenk racked up just over $400K in 48 total events, but ultimately earned his PGA Tour card for the first time thanks to his win at the Lincoln Land Charity Championship in late June. That victory came during one of the best stretches so far throughout his professional career, finishing top-five in four straight events. Schenk's long game appears to be of PGA Tour caliber after ranking top-20 in both total driving and ball striking on the Web.com, while he also finished top-40 in terms of scrambling.
