Lands extension with Jets

June 15, 2026
Tippmann has agreed to a four-year, $62 million extension with the Jets, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Tippmann, who was approaching the final year of his rookie pact, is now under contract with the Jets through 2030 on a deal that includes $31 million in new guarantees, per Cimini. The 2023 second-rounder, who has only missed one regular-season game through his first three campaigns as a pro, worked at center in 2023 and parts of 2024, but made the full-time switch to right guard (where he'll continue to start) last year.

2023
Tippmann has started 31 games in his first two NFL seasons, including all 17 in 2024. The Jets' second-round draft pick in 2023 is the favorite to start at center in 2025, though Tippmann can also shift to guard if necessary.
After starting 14 games as a rookie second-round pick, Tippmann is penciled in as the Jets' 2024 starting center in his second NFL season.
Tippmann was drafted 43rd overall by the Jets in 2023. The rookie out of Wisconsin will compete with Connor McGovern for the starting center role. If he loses that competition, the versatile Tippmann will also be a depth option at guard and possibly even tackle.

Battling for starting job
OGNew York Jets
May 22, 2025
Tippmann will be competing with Josh Myers for the starting center role in camp, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Tippmann had been viewed as the presumptive favorite for the job after making 31 starts over the past two seasons, but the 2023 second-round draft pick will have to earn his spot over Myers, who signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Jets in March. Myers notably worked as the center for Jets quarterback Justin Fields when they played together at Ohio State. Tippmann has the versatility to kick out to guard, but he would be unlikely to beat out Alijah Vera-Tucker or John Simpson for a starting role.
