2026 Projections
Packers moving on from kicker
The Packers are slated to release McManus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The move follows the team's selection of Trey Smack in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with fellow kicker Lucas Havrisik also currently on Green Bay's roster. During the 2025 regular season, McManus went 24-for-30 on field-goal attempts and 32-for-33 on extra-point tries in 14 games. McManus, who turns 35 in July, thus represents an option for teams looking to bring in veteran kicking competition ahead of training camp.

After spending his first nine seasons in Denver and 2023 in Jacksonville, McManus signed with Washington last spring. He was released not long after, amidst allegations of sexual assault, later signing with the Packers in October after a lawsuit was dismissed. McManus missed just two field-goal attempts and no PATs in 12 games for the Packers, albeit with one of his two misses coming in the playoff loss at Philadelphia. He signed a three-year contract this offseason and thus has strong job security for a Green Bay team that figures to compete for a playoff spot again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be done in Green Bay
McManus seems likely to be replaced as the Packers' kicker after the team traded up to select Trey Smack out of Florida in the 2026 NFL Draft, Matt Schneiderman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay gave up two seventh-round picks to nab Smack at the end of the sixth round, a strong sign that the team expects him to take over at placekicker from McManus. The 34-year-old veteran played well in 2024 after joining the Packers in Week 7, and while he struggled last year due to a quad strain, he had 13 straight successful kicks to close out the regular season once he was healthy. McManus has missed three field goals and an extra point in the team's two playoff losses the last two years, however, giving the organization plenty of incentive to look for an upgrade.
