Grupe converted all 11 of his field-goal attempts and 10 PAT tries across the Colts' final five regular-season games last year. Indianapolis signed the 27-year-old from its practice squad after moving on from Michael Badgley in December. Grupe opened the season with the Saints but was waived in late November after he hit 18 of 26 field-goal tries over 11 appearances. He now will compete with Spencer Schrader for the Colts' starting kicker job this offseason, per James Boyd of The Athletic.

Grupe won the Saints' kicker job as an undrafted rookie in 2023 and hasn't missed a game since, making 83.8 percent of field-goal attempts and 97.3 percent of PATS. He's been about average from long range -- going 12 of 17 from 50-plus yards and 15 of 18 from 40-plus -- and about average at converting the shorter stuff. Grupe may face job competition this summer under a new coaching staff, and there's not much chance of the Saints being a top team that can help him pile up volume.

Grupe has been the presumed favorite to remain the Saints' kicker in 2024 after making 30 of 37 field-goal attempts as a rookie in 2023, but Smyth is apparently hanging around in the competition. Grupe has connected on all three of his field-goal attempts in preseason, but Smyth kicked the game-winning field goal against the Cardinals in the preseason opener and turned heads by hitting a 65-yard field goal in practice Tuesday.
