Sorsby is applying to enter the NFL supplemental draft, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sorsby had been set to take over as Texas Tech's quarterback during the upcoming season after joining the program as a transfer from Cincinnati, but he had been ruled ineligible by the NCAA after he admitted in late May to placing roughly $90,000 in sports bets over the past four years -- including at least 40 bets made on Indiana football while he was a member of the team in 2022 and 2023. Sorsby was subsequently granted an injunction by a Texas judge, but the NCAA recently appealed that judge's ruling. Rather than continuing to fight the NCAA to maintain his eligibility, Sorsby elected to part ways with Texas Tech and will instead attempt to move on to the professional ranks. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound signal-caller has been regarded as a potential first-round selection in the standard draft in terms of talent, and his combination of arm strength, touch and mobility could be attractive to NFL teams. That being said, his off-field controversy may affect interest in Sorsby from organizations around the league.
