Martin will be called upon to lead the Cougars' offense in 2025, as last year's starting quarterback, Jake Retzlaff, has transferred to Tulane following some off-the-field issues this offseason. Martin made his mark on the field when healthy last season, rushing for 718 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games. He ended the year with an impressive performance as the offensive MVP in the Alamo Bowl, a 36-14 win over Colorado. He'll be atop the depth chart ahead of teammates Sione Moa, Pokaiaua Haunga, and Enoch Nawahine. With the question marks at quarterback, expect BYU to lean heavily on the running game with a game plan centered around physicality in most weeks. The Cougars were already trending this way as they jumped from last in rushing production in the Big 12 in 2023 to 9th in the conference in 2024. Read Past Outlooks
