Declares for NFL draft
Williams announced Friday via his personal Twitter account that he will sit out Notre Dame's Jan. 1 Fiesta Bowl matchup with Oklahoma State to begin preparations for the 2022 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
A 1,000-yard rusher both of the past two seasons for Notre Dame, Williams will start preparing for the draft rather than risking injury in the bowl game. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry overall while catching 77 passes for 672 yards with 31 total touchdowns in 24 games during his two-year run as the team's primary tailback. Chris Tyree and Logan Diggs should handle the bulk of the backfield work for the Fighting Irish versus Oklahoma State.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Notre Dame’s backfield situation was up for grabs entering 2020 and many were hyping freshman Chris Tyree, but it was Williams who seized control of the backfield with 246 total touches. Williams peeled off 5.3 YPC behind a great O-line and caught 35 of 48 targets for 313 yards. Notre Dame has question marks elsewhere on offense, losing several offensive linemen and longtime quarterback Ian Book, so this offense could have some growing pains. Williams should be the starter and his pass catching boosts his value, but factors outside of his control could curb his efficiency.
