Moving on to NFL
Smith-Njigba (hamstring) announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he won't play for Ohio State in its Dec. 31 Peach Bowl matchup with Georgia in the College Football Playoff and will instead forgo his remaining eligibility to begin preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
A preseason frontrunner for the Biletnikoff Award, Smith-Njigba was unable to build on his magnificent sophomore campaign while being repeatedly nagged by the hamstring injury he suffered in the first half of the Buckeyes' season-opening win over Notre Dame. He went on to play in parts of just two more games while he dealt with setbacks related to the hamstring injury, ultimately finishing his junior season with five catches for 43 yards on nine targets. Despite having most of his 2022 season wiped out by the injury, the six-foot, 197-pound Smith-Njigba is still a good bet to hear his name called in the first round of the draft, given his past production and the outstanding hands and agility he's displayed when healthy. Even with Smith-Njigba unavailable for the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes are still left with one of the nation's best receiving corps featuring a pair of 1,000-plus-yard pass catchers in Marvin Harrison and Emeka Egbuka.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Smith-Nigba’s 347-yard, three-touchdown performance in the Rose Bowl gave a glimpse of what this offense will look like with him as the lead receiver and the Chris Olave-Garrett Wilson combo gone. He won’t do that every week, of course, but JSN notched five straight 100-yard games to end the season while competing for targets. Now he will be the focal point for C.J. Stroud, and while the Buckeyes have promising options behind Smith-Njigba, he is Option A in what will be the most explosive passing offense in college football. Smith-Njigba is the slam dunk WR1 this year.
