Declares for draft
Smith-Marsette (ankle) announced Thursday that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Iowa to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, Scott Dochterman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-1 wideout caught 110 passes for 1,615 yards and 14 scores in his four seasons for Iowa, adding four more touchdowns on the ground. His junior year was his best, as he recorded career highs in receptions (44) and yards (722) while scoring eight total touchdowns. He suffered an ankle injury late in his senior year but will avoid surgery, so the issue likely won't affect his draft stock too significantly.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Smith-Marsette has steadily increased his output in each of his three years at Iowa, racking up 44 grabs for 722 yards and five touchdowns as a junior in 2019. Part of that improvement likely arises following the departures of both T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant following the 2018 campaign, which opened a massive amount of target share for the receivers. He’s set for another adjustment this offseason following the graduation of Nate Stanley. The NFL-bound signal-caller accounted for 399 of 409 passes attempted by Hawkeye quarterbacks in 2019, with Spencer Petras getting in the mix briefly in blowout wins over Rutgers and Middle Tennessee State. The target share should remain fairly stable for Smith-Marsette in 2020 after owning 18.6 in 2019, though that could result in a depression of stats if Petras can’t live up to Stanley’s standards.
