You may think you know the score with Heidenreich. He's a Navy running back. Heidenreich will get plenty of carries in the triple-option offense, and that will be that. Heidenreich was the number-three option in the run game in 2024, notching 444 yards and three touchdowns. What was remarkable about his season, though, is that the back had 39 catches for 671 yards and six touchdowns. When was the last time a Midshipmen back had a season like that, much less a running back? That makes Heidenreich quite intriguing. Of course, there are also questions. Doing it once was impressive and eye-catching. It's only once, though. Was this anomalous? If it was, Heidenreich will settle into being your usual number-three rushing option for Navy, but he seems likely to be utilized as a weapon in the passing attack once again, which would again make him an intriguing fantasy asset in 2025 with Blake Horvath remaining under center for the Midshipmen.
