NFL bound
December 27, 2018
Johnson announced via Twitter that he will forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
A three-year contributor at Toledo with a knack for finding the end zone with 24 career receiving touchdowns, Johnson is an interesting prospect for the next level. He checks in at 5-foot-11 and 181 pounds, so he may be ticketed for slot work at the next level. Johnson's peak came as a sophomore when he stepped up in a huge way for an injured Cody Thompson and caught 74 of 107 targets for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns. His production tailed off a bit in 2018, but part of that can be attributed to less steady quarterback play than what Johnson was treated to as a sophomore. Johnson is also a special teams contributor with four career touchdowns. He currently projects as a Day 3 selection.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Johnson enjoyed a massive breakout last season after the Rockets’ No. 1 target, Cody Thompson, went down in Week 5 with a broken leg. Johnson racked up 74 catches for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns, after hauling in just 14 grabs for 237 yards and three scores in 2015. With Thompson expected to ready for the season opener, there will be competition for the No.1 role in Toledo's offense. The Rockets lost their starting quarterback, Logan Woodside, during the offseason, so it’ll be up to Mitchell Guadagni to utilize the pair of talented wideouts. Despite the return of Thompson, Johnson should be in line for another effective season as part of an offense that averaged 277.3 passing yards per game in 2017, even if he doesn’t manage to duplicate his production from a season ago.
