Brashard Smith

Brashard Smith is one of many Hurricane receivers vying for expanded snaps in new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson’s air raid attack. Smith flashed in the first half of last season, with 23 of his 33 catches coming in Miami’s initial six tilts. He missed Week 8 however, and never got on track afterwards. He’s got speed to help this unit out of the slot and simply needs opportunity, the question is whether Smith will get that. Miami’s receiving corps has a plethora of options, none of which have seized their previous opportunity. Following spring, it appears as if Colbie Young is poised to start on the outside after a solid 2022, and Xavier Restrepo as a security blanket underneath. From there, expect a heavy rotation throughout September as the staff get a better idea who they can rely on. It very well could be Smith. It also could be Jacolby George, Ray Ray Joseph or Robby Washington. As such, Smith is nothing but a late flier on draft day, and is better off monitoring early in the year.
