Vala is still just a true freshman, and with plenty of other tight ends in Illinois' room vying for snaps (including Christian Abney, Davin Stoffel and Kaden Feagin), there's a long way to go until Vala earns a starting role. However, he appears to be ahead of schedule in Champaign.
