2026 Tournament PreviewAfter a first-round exit last season, coach Mark Byington led Vanderbilt to a 16-0 start to the 2025-26 campaign, and an 11-7 record in the tough SEC boosted the Commodores to an No. 13 ranking on KenPom and No. 16 in the NET. Sophomore Tyler Tanner (19.2 ppg, 5.2 apg, 2.5 spg) has led the charge for the 15th-best offense (per KenPom), but the return of senior Oklahoma transfer Duke Miles (15.9 ppg) has provided a major boost. Guard play is key in the tournament, and this duo protects the ball (14th-lowest turnover rate) and leads a team that shoots free throws at a 78.3 percent clip (14th). Defense isn't too shabby, either, checking in at 27th in efficiency (per KenPom) and top-50 rates in effective and three-point FG percentage allowed. With eight Quad 1 wins and a top-20 ranking in D-1 experience, the first Final Four in program history might be a stretch, but this isn't a team to sleep on.
