Kawamura became an unrestricted free agent June 29 after the Bulls declined to tender him a qualifying offer, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.

Kawamura finished the past season as one of the Bulls' three two-way players but did little to distinguish himself after signing with the team Jan. 6. Over 18 appearances at the NBA level, Kawamura shot just 32.7 percent from the field and averaged 3.4 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game. The 25-year-old point guard recently wrapped up a stint with the Pacers in the Las Vegas Summer League, but he remains unsigned heading into the 2026-27 season.
