2025 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 27 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Shannon wasn't afforded many opportunities in Minnesota. He ended up with just 32 regular-season appearances to his name with averages of 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from long range in 10.6 minutes per game. The Timberwolves had a quiet offseason, but they did lose a key rotation piece in Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Rob Dillingham and Shannon are two candidates to soak up some of those. Shannon certainly did his part during the Summer League, putting up 22.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.3 three-pointers and 1.7 steals in three appearances. Shannon is currently penciled in as the backup small forward behind Jaden McDaniels, and he's typically a high-minute player for the Timberwolves. Shannon does have some intrigue, but he's only on the radar in deeper formats until his path to minutes becomes a bit clearer. Read Past Outlooks
Drops 21 points in defeat
Shannon notched 21 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during Friday's 139-109 loss to the Spurs in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Shannon shed a questionable tag due to a head contusion to suit up Friday, and he delivered a bounce-back performance after shooting 0-for-5 from the field in Tuesday's Game 5 loss. The second-year swingman finished as Minnesota's second-leading scorer while pacing the bench in points. The 25-year-old saw increased burn in the playoffs after Donte DiVincenzo ruptured his Achilles, and with the latter likely to miss most, if not all, of the 2026-27 campaign, Shannon could be in line for a more sizable role depending on what moves the Timberwolves make this summer. He averaged 5.6 points and 1.1 rebounds across 12.5 minutes per game in 43 regular-season outings (two starts), though Shannon certainly flashed his potential during the postseason.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
After three seasons at Texas Tech, Shannon transferred to Illinois and became a star. In 2023-24, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 23.0 points (48/36/80 shooting splits), 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks, landing First-Team All-Big Ten and Third-Team All-American honors. Shannon also led the Illini to a Big Ten Tournament championship, earning the Most Outstanding Player award. However, the season was clouded by legal trouble. In December of 2023, Shannon was charged with two felonies and suspended indefinitely by Illinois. Ultimately, he finished his final collegiate season after being granted a restraining order and was found not guilty of the charges just a few weeks before the 2024 NBA Draft. The legal trouble and being one of the oldest prospects in the 2024 class led to Shannon falling on draft day. He was selected by Minnesota with the 27th overall pick and joins a loaded backcourt. Mike Conley and Anthony Edwards will start, while Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will be the primary backups. Minnesota also signed Joe Ingles in free agency and drafted Rob Dillingham 19 picks ahead of Shannon. Shannon's path to NBA minutes is too crowded to make him worthy of a roster spot in standard leagues, but his offensive upside should have fantasy managers' interest if he's ever given a 20-minute role.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Candidate to be moved
Shannon has reportedly been identified as a player of interest for Milwaukee in hypothetical Giannis Antetokounmpo discussions with Minnesota, according to Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
The second-year guard flashed intriguing upside during the 2025-26 season and could be viewed as a developmental piece in a larger trade framework. His inclusion would likely be tied to Milwaukee's desire for younger talent. In nine postseason games, Shannon stepped up with 11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22.6 minutes per contest.
