2025 Fantasy Outlook
Since being the No. 3 overall pick in 2020, Ball is averaging only 46.2 games played per season. He was an All-Star during his sophomore campaign, where he appeared in a career-high 75 games. The talent and ability to put up numbers are undeniable. The point guard is coming off his third straight season averaging at least 23.3 points, 3.2 made threes, 7.4 assists and 1.1 steals. Still, confidence in Ball has waned in the fantasy space, with managers often drafting him in the 20-30 range last season despite his age and upside. The fall could be farther this season, given that the NBA has no shortage of All-Star caliber guards with fewer health concerns. There's also the potential for Ball's usage to decrease as Brandon Miller's increases. The front office also wasn't shy about adding backcourt depth in the offseason, nabbing Collin Sexton, Spencer Dinwiddie and Kon Kneuppel while re-signing Tre Mann. There's still plenty of fantasy upside to be had in drafting Ball, but the risk/reward equation hasn't been tilting positively. Read Past Outlooks
Drops 30 points in win
Ball contributed 30 points (12-31 FG, 2-16 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 assists, five rebounds, one steal and one block across 40 minutes in Tuesday's 127-126 overtime win over the Heat in the Play-In Tournament.
ANALYSIS
Ball struggled mightily from beyond the arc but still scored a game-high 30 points, including the go-ahead layup in overtime. The star point guard also led all players in assists en route to his second double-double of April. Ball and the Hornets are now set to face the loser of Wednesday's matchup between the Magic and 76ers, and a win would send Charlotte to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.

Ball has shown immense promise in fantasy, but the past two seasons have been riddled with recurring ankle injuries. The 23-year-old has played only 58 total games during this stretch, but he put up impressive averages of 23.5 points and 3.7 threes on 42/37/85 shooting, 8.3 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 34.1 minutes. The 2021-22 All-Star has 10 career triple-doubles in 184 games, showing off his versatility. It hasn't led to winning, though. That, combined with Ball's injuries, are the primary criticisms of the No. 3 overall pick from 2020. Last season was highlighted more by the return of Miles Bridges and the emergence of then-rookie Brandon Miller in the second half of the campaign. Both players are back for 2024-25, and Ball could be asked to share more touches with Miller, but as it stands, Ball is still the engine of the team. If injuries weren't a factor, Ball would likely be an automatic first-round selection. Managers will have to decide how to weigh the past couple years of injury trouble with his youth and upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Fined $60K, avoids suspension
The NBA fined Ball $60,000 "for making unnecessary and reckless contact" with Bam Adebayo during the Hornets' 127-126 overtime win over the Heat in Tuesday's Play-In Game, but the Charlotte point guard will be available for Friday's game against the Magic, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The league also assessed Ball a flagrant foul 2 for tripping Adebayo during the first half of Tuesday's game, which resulted in the latter suffering a lower-back injury that was too severe for him to return. Ball was not called for the foul during the game, and the play was non-reviewable since it wasn't whistled by a referee in real time. He made the game-winning layup with 4.6 seconds remaining in overtime and finished with 30 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, one steal and one block over 40 minutes.
