2025 Fantasy Outlook
Perfect attendance last season gave McDaniels a significant boost in his overall fantasy finish, especially in category leagues. He also continues to improve across the board. He set career highs in rebounds (5.7), assists (2.0), steals (1.3) and minutes (31.9) per game. His efficiency has taken a bit of a hit as he sees more shot attempts, and it appears like his 39.8 percent from deep in 2022-23 was an outlier, as he's shot only 33.5 percent from three in his other four campaigns. He doesn't get to the free-throw line often, but he posted a career-high 81.3 percent mark in 2024-25. McDaniels will once again play second fiddle to Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle and even Naz Reid, who demands usage off the bench. There may be more opportunities opening up if Mike Conley continues to struggle with his battle against Father Time. If Conley's workload is reduced, it wouldn't all be directed toward McDaniels, as Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham, Terrence Shannon or Jaylen Clark could see more playing time. Nonetheless, the Timberwolves gave McDaniels a massive extension in 2023, and they will want him on the court as often as possible, even if he doesn't reach another level in his game. However, if that doesn't happen, McDaniels will likely have to rely on near-perfect attendance every season to crack the Top 100. Read Past Outlooks

There's no question McDaniels delivers a big on-court impact for the Timberwolves, a team that's expected to be among the contenders. He'll remain in a starting role alongside elite fantasy performers such as Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert. However, McDaniels' contributions don't often translate into huge fantasy numbers outside of days when his shooting efficiency is above average. McDaniels suffered a decrease in his shooting numbers in 2023-24, as his field-goal percentage decreased from 51.7 to 48.9, and his three-point efficiency fell from 39.8 percent to a mere 33.7. The attention that players like Edwards and Randle will command could open up more shooting opportunities for McDaniels, and if he manages to take advantage of them, he could be a solid fantasy contributor again. He doesn't have a lot of upside, but his floor should remain high since he's entrenched into a starting role for a win-now team. As such, fantasy managers could take a late-round flier on him, but that's as high as he should go in most formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Linked to Bucks
Milwaukee has identified McDaniels as a key piece in any Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, Chris Mannix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Minnesota values McDaniels highly and believes he can be a future All-Star. The Bucks want McDaniels and multiple draft picks, and that's something the Timberwolves do not have in surplus. They would need a third or even fourth team involved. If Antetokounmpo to Minnesota does gain some traction, McDaniels will almost certainly be involved.
