Joining Golden State
Bassey agreed to a contract with the Warriors on Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
After his second 10-day deal with the Celtics expired Saturday, Bassey was viewed as a candidate to rejoin Boston on a rest-of-season deal, but he'll instead move on to his fourth organization of the season in Golden State. Across stops with the Grizzlies, 76ers and Celtics on five total 10-day pacts, Bassey has appeared in eight games and has averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 6.6 minutes per contest. He'll provide the Warriors with some much-needed depth in the frontcourt while the club is without Al Horford (soleus) and Quinten Post (foot).

2021
Bassey tore his left ACL in December of 2023 and is expected to miss the start of 2024-25. In 19 regular-season appearances last season, the 2021 second-round pick served as the primary backup center behind Zach Collins, a smaller role than his first season in San Antonio when the Spurs didn't have Victor Wembanyama roaming the paint. Bassey and Sandro Mamukelashvili signed similar one-year deals this offseason and figure to compete for backup minutes. However, taking the injury out of the equation, Bassey's role is murkier than last season. Wembanyama's move to center will have Collins playing off the bench, leaving Bassey and Mamukelashvili to compete for third-string minutes. Bassey's injury concerns, competition and limited fantasy upside - he's essentially a traditional big man with no outside shot - make him undraftable in standard leagues. However, his situation could change as the season progresses, so he's worth keeping an eye on when he's finally cleared to play.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Option for Grizzlies?
Bassey is one of several free agents who could sign with the Grizzlies on a 10-day hardship contract after the third game of the regular season, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian speculates.
ANALYSIS
The Grizzlies could apply for a 10-day hardship contract since they have at least two players sidelined at two positions, point guard and center. Bassey might be a potential option if they're looking to bolster their frontcourt. Bassey has spent time with the 76ers and Spurs in his four-year NBA career and was let go by the Hawks on Oct. 18 as part of the team's final roster cuts.
