Yanquiel Fernandez

Fernandez's minor league numbers the past two seasons hide the fact he has some of the best raw power in the minor leagues. Scouts have slapped 60 to 70 grade labels on his raw poer, but you would never know it statistically scouting his player page. He hit 25 homers in 2023 between High-A and Double-A ball, but has hit 25 homers in the minors of the next two seasons combined. He did reach the big league club last season and flashed some of that bat speed while bombing a few homers around plenty of strikeouts. He also shows a tremendous throwing arm from right field despite a severe lack of range as a slow-footed large man-child. He is just 23 years old and still has a minor league option available. Many hairs have been lost trying to figure out what the Rockies will do on an annual basis, but if this club could give Michael Toglia as much time as it did last season despite his struggles, certainly they can reward Fernandez with plate appearances if he shows something in Talking Stick in camp or down in Triple-A early in the season. A very late dart throw for power upside in deeper NL-Only leagues for sure. Read Past Outlooks
