2026 Fantasy Outlook
Vodnik added velocity in 2025 while adding a seldom-used cutter to his arsenal that he threw to right-handed hitters, albeit without much success. His increased velocity was a surprise considering right shoulder inflammation sidelined the 26-year-old for a little over a month early last season. Upon his return, Vodnik filled a setup role for Colorado until Seth Halvorsen (elbow) suffered a season-ending injury last August. Eight of Vodnik's 10 saves were recorded after Halvorsen got hurt. Vodnik tossed fewer sliders in 2025 in favor of more changeups. Of those who threw a minimum of 200 changeups last season, Vodnik's ranked third overall in BAA (.109), fourth in SLG (.130) and 10th in whiff rate (44.2 percent). It continues to be his best offering each year, but when you can hit triple-digits on the radar gun and consistently throw in the upper-90's, it's no surprise that Vodnik favors his four-seamer. Looking towards 2026, the righty figures to remain in the mix for Rockies saves. Read Past Outlooks
Blows save in first outing of 2026
Vodnik (0-1) blew his save opportunity and took the loss against the Marlins on Sunday. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out one across one inning.
Analysis
Vodnik got the call to the mound for the eighth inning with two outs and two on, and he managed to get out of the frame unscathed despite hitting Connor Norby with a pitch to load the bases. Vodnik was brought back out for the ninth, and after getting the first two batters out thanks to a double play, he yielded a double to Javier Sanoja before giving up a walk-off, two-run homer to Owen Caissie. Vodnik was named the Rockies' closer despite a rocky performance in spring training; however, more outings like Sunday's could lead to Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer turning to Juan Mejia to close things out instead of Vodnik.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Vodnik filled a multi-inning, low-leverage role for Colorado early on in 2024. Featuring an upper-90's fastball (63 percent usage), slider (20 percent) and changeup (17 percent), the 25-year-old allowed a 93.1 mph average exit velocity and 49.3 hard-hit percentage that were among the worst marks in the majors. When combined with an 11.6 percent walk rate and below average K-rate (20.3 percent), you wouldn't expect this type of production to come close to the ninth inning. However, Vodnik managed to climb several rungs on Colorado's leverage ladder before he was afforded the opportunity to close for the Rockies last summer. The right-hander tallied nine saves in 15 chances and finished the year with 73.2 innings (T-14 among relievers). Vodnik enters spring training as one of the candidates to close in Colorado, but Tyler Kinley and Seth Halvorsen have more save upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could leave Colorado
Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports that Vodnik could be a trade piece for the Rockies this summer.
Analysis
The Rockies aren't in a position to hang onto relievers if they generate at least some kind of trade value before the deadline, and it wouldn't be surprising if a team in contention at least kicks the tires on Vodnik's availability. The right-hander owns a 2.70 ERA across 13.1 innings in 14 appearances this season.
