2023 Fantasy Outlook
Gentry had one of the most productive seasons of any minor-league hitter last season, slashing .326/.422/.542 with 21 home runs in 108 games at High-A and Double-A. Given that he was old for those levels and had a .447 BABIP and High-A and a .362 BABIP at Double-A, Gentry's overall numbers greatly oversell his prospect value. Scouts still don't see a plus hitter or plus power, but the right-handed corner outfielder could be an average hitter with above-average power, which might still be enough for him to get a chance to play everyday for this second-division team. He is not yet on the 40-man roster, so Kansas City could leave him at Triple-A for most of the season. That said, Gentry will be in his age-24 season, so if he dominates at the plate, he should get a chance sometime this summer.
