2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ginn made 16 starts for the Athletics in 2025, though he also spent a month during the middle of the season working out of the bullpen. The right-hander pitched decent as a reliever with a 4.11 ERA and 19:1 K:BB across 15.1 frames, but his 5.28 ERA and 1.43 WHIP as a starter left a lot to be desired. Ginn was able to miss bats in both roles with a 75th percentile whiff rate (28.7 percent), but he also gave up a lot of hard contact. The strikeout potential provides some upside, while a 3.68 xFIP as a starter offers the possibility of positive regression. Ginn particularly struggled when pitching at home in Sacramento, and his 3.14 road ERA illustrates some value as a streaming option. His numbers as a reliever could help him stick in the big leagues even if he's pushed out of the rotation or doesn't make the Opening Day unit. Read Past Outlooks
Completes eight frames in victory
Ginn (1-1) earned the win over Philadelphia on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over eight innings.
Analysis
The Athletics staked Ginn to a 4-0 lead after half an inning, and the right-hander never let Philadelphia back in the game. He needed just 96 pitches to complete a career-high eight frames, with the only run against him coming on a fourth-inning long ball by Kyle Schwarber. Ginn yielded a season-worst five runs over 4.1 innings in his previous start, so the A's had to be thrilled to see him bounce back in such a big way. For a back-of-the-rotation arm he's faring pretty well overall this season, holding a 3.62 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 37.1 innings.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2021
Ginn may not do anything noteworthy for the rest of his big league career, but he can at least be the answer to the trivia question - who earned the last win at Oakland Coliseum before the A's moved away? Ginn was that guy. Ginn earned his way to Oakland after making 20 starts between Double-A and Triple-A. Ginn's calling card is a sinking fastball, which is tough to elevate and has generated a plethora of ground balls throughout his career, which will come in handy as the Athletics move into a more hostile run environment. Ginn's numbers are a bit confusing, because while the league did hit well over .300 off his non-sliders last season, he also had an overall above-average whiff rate on his pitches. The challenge for Ginn is that his putaway pitch is his slider, but he falls back to his sinker when he is down in the count. Paul Blackburn made this approach work in Oakland in recent seasons, but we don't have a baseline for what can happen in Sacramento. Deep AL only leagues could look at him for reserve streaming depth, but he will likely be a regular on the waiver wire throughout the season.
