2025 Projections
Traded to Minnesota
The Marlins traded Salas along with right-hander Pablo Lopez to the Twins on Friday in exchange for Luis Arraez, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salas reached the High-A level for the first time in 2022, though he slashed just .230/.319/.340 in 217 plate appearances. The 19-year-old switch-hitter was considered one of the top prospects in the Marlins' farm system, and Salas' defensive versatility could help him rise through the Twins' minor-league system more quickly than expected.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Salas has been incredibly young for his levels, but he hasn't been super productive, save for stealing 33 bases on 34 tries in 109 games across Single-A and High-A. He turns 20 in April and already has 217 plate appearances at High-A under his belt. There are shades of Luis Garcia with the Nationals, where he is accelerating through the minors at the pace of a phenom, but he doesn't actually have loud tools. Salas has good makeup and bloodlines - his younger brother Ethan is the top overall prospect in the Jan. 15, 2023 international signing class - but despite his stolen-base prowess, he gets average run grades from scouts and average power grades. Given his lack of impact athleticism or strength, it would be nice if Salas projected for a plus hit tool, but he is a career .268 hitter in the minors. He is expected to end up at second base or third base.
