Paez was limited to just 19.1 innings in High-A Greenville in 2025 while working through a calf injury, though he did look good in limited action with a 2.79 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB. He was picked up by the White Sox in December in the Rule 5 Draft and will have the opportunity to work his way up the South Siders' organization. He's posted a 10-plus K/9 in each of his last two seasons in the minors, and he's also demonstrated his control with a low walk rate. The 22-year-old right-hander has worked primarily as a starter in the minors but will most likely take on a long-relief role with the South Siders. He will need to remain on the active roster all season or else be offered back to the Red Sox.
