Susana logged a 2.40 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 15 innings over his final three starts for High-A Wilmington.
ANALYSIS
The big righty had a pair of 10-strikeout performances to put a bow on his age-20 campaign. His fielding-independent stats paint a better picture (FIP and xFIP below 3.00 at Single-A and High-A) than his 4.34 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 103.2 innings across the two levels. Susana's 35.4 percent strikeout rate ranked fourth in the minors among pitchers who threw 100-plus innings this season.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Susana, the youngest player and the prospect with the most variance in the Juan Soto trade, has an uncommon combination of size and stuff for an 18-year-old pitcher. He is already 6-foot-6 and built like an absolute unit. His fastball touched 103 mph last season and sat in the upper-90s while his slider touched 95 mph (per a stadium gun) and sat in the upper-80s. He has an effortless delivery, and while he will undoubtedly add weight in the coming years, he isn't fat, just tall and well put together, so he should be able to keep his body in check. Susana mixes in a curveball and changeup that both need plenty of development. He walked 20 in 45 innings (11.2 BB%), so command/control gains are needed, but he isn't in the danger zone given his age and off-the-charts velocity. Susana's stuff is so good that late-inning relief seems like a worst-case scenario if we could turn off pitcher injuries.

Fading slightly
Susana has struggled at Single-A, prompting Jim Bowden of The Athletic to remove the 19-year-old from his top-50 prospect rankings.
ANALYSIS
Susana owns a 5.14 ERA and an alarming 62:40 K:BB on the season. Bowden notes that "he has raw, electric stuff...but hasn't been able to put it together yet and then use his stuff to get strikeouts." Susana has just 108 career innings under his belt in the minor leagues, with much of his journey still to be determined.
