2026 Fantasy Outlook
Bloss is poised to return from May 2025 UCL surgery sometime this summer, but the Jays have enough starting pitching depth that we may not see Bloss in the big-league rotation this year. Part of the package of prospects Toronto received from Houston in 2024 for Yusei Kikuchi, Bloss turns 25 in June and has yet to have sustained success in games since the trade. He logged a 6.91 ERA and 7.6 K-BB% in eight starts at Triple-A Buffalo in 2024 and a 6.46 ERA and 9.6 K-BB% in a return there last year before needing surgery. At his best, Bloss sits 93-95 mph (touches 97) with his fastball while getting excellent extension and mixing in a variety of average secondary pitches. This is Bloss' final year with a minor-league option, and it would make sense for him to spend most, or all of the season, building back up in the Triple-A rotation, barring a barrage of injuries in the majors. Coughs up four runs in rehab start
Bloss (elbow) struck out four and allowed four earned runs on seven hits and one walk across three innings during his rehab start Saturday with Single-A Dunedin.
Analysis
After turning in a 1.04 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 12:0 K:BB in 8.2 innings over his first three rehab starts between Dunedin and the Blue Jays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Bloss endured a bumpy outing for the first time during his minor-league assignment. On a positive note, Bloss built up to 58 pitches in Saturday's outing and continued to look good in terms of raw stuff, turning in a 42.9 percent whiff rate while averaging 95.5 mph with his four-seamer. The 25-year-old right-hander -- who is working his way back from May 2025 Tommy John surgery -- is likely to require another rehab start or two before being activated from Triple-A Buffalo's 60-day injured list. If he continues to maintain the success he's enjoyed thus far during his rehab assignment once he joins the Buffalo rotation, Bloss could get a look in Toronto as a back-end starter or multi-inning option out of the bullpen at some point later on this summer.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Bloss was part of the return the Jays received after sending Kikuchi to Houston at the deadline. Bloss began the season in A ball but pitched in all four classifications of minor league ball around a brief stint of major league work for the Astros in the middle of the summer around an IL stint due to shoulder discomfort. Bloss, in total, worked 105 innings over five different levels of professional baseball. In that time, he allowed fewer hits than innings pitched, but offset that with 39 walks and 13 homers. Bloss has a standard repertoire, with his breaking stuff being the best of the bunch in his limited major league time. The escalated rush through the system shows his talent level, but at 23 years old, he still needs more time to fully develop his arsenal, as this past season was his first full professional season after matriculating at a few colleges. The Toronto rotation seems rather set with Bloss on the outside looking in, but he will very likely be the first guy called up when the staff needs to cover for injuries in the rotation.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected up in September
The Blue Jays plan to call up Bloss at some point in September, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis
Bloss was not part of the Blue Jays' initial Sept. 1 promotions, but he's expected to get a look eventually and likely make a few starts for them down the stretch. Acquired from the Astros in the Yusei Kikuchi trade at the summer deadline, Bloss was roughed up for eight runs over 1.2 innings in his last outing with Triple-A Buffalo, although he had turned in three scoreless starts prior to that.
