Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Kjerstad spent time between Baltimore and Triple-A Norfolk until fatigue put him on the IL in July, and he never returned to playing. It was announced after the season that Kjerstad was receiving medical attention for a medical issue, but nothing more definitive than that. Kjerstad's career has been sidetracked by medical issues since he came out of the University of Arkansas, but his 2023 season where he hit .303/.376/.528 with 21 homers and 87 runs scored is still fresh in minds of deeper fantasy league managers. Hopefully this recent medical issue is something very treatable and not serious so this young man can get back to playing baseball. He will very likely be back in Norfolk to begin 2026 with the crowded 26-man active roster after the additions of Taylor Ward, Pete Alonso, and Leody Taveras. Read Past Outlooks
Cleared for rehab assignment
Kjerstad (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Chesapeake on Saturday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis
Kjerstad has been on the shelf all season due to a hamstring strain he suffered late in spring training. Due to the extensive time he's missed, the 27-year-old could be in line for a lengthy rehab assignment, and there's a real chance that he'll be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk upon his activation from the 10-day injured list.

Kjerstad is one of a few young Orioles position players that's been caught in between the last two seasons, as he's shown he has nothing left to prove in the minors but is still waiting to get some extended run of playing time at the big-league level. The 26-year-old has put up a .924 OPS with 26 homers over 132 contests at Triple-A Norfolk since the start of the 2023 campaign but has never started more than three games in a row for the Orioles. While Kjerstad has struck out at a 29.3 percent clip during his limited chances in the majors, he's also sported a 46.5 percent hard-hit rate and 9.3 percent barrel rate. With Anthony Santander's expected departure, Kjerstad could become a regular in right field at least against right-handed pitching. The swing and miss might keep his average down, but Kjerstad should crank plenty of homers if he gets an opportunity.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Full go for spring training
Kjerstad, who dealt with fatigue toward the end of the 2025 season, will be ready for spring training, manager Craig Albernaz told Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun.
Analysis
Kjerstad was shut down in late July due to fatigue, and he later underwent treatment for an unspecified medical condition. However, both issues seem to be in the rearview now. Even though he's buried on the depth chart after a lackluster 2025 regular season in which he only hit .192 with a .567 OPS across 54 games, he'll compete for his chance to make the big-league roster in 2026.
