Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Anyone who took Stanton as a late-round power dart willing to wait for him to come back from elbow tendonitis in both elbows was suprisingly rewarded with an excellent season by recent Stanton standards. The human statue hit for his highest batting average in four seasons and hit 20 second-half home runs once he shook off the rust from missing so much of the first half of the season. The strikeouts are always going to be a part of Stanton's game, but a .283/.356/.650 second half triple-slash line is going to get some attention this winter for those who had already thrown dirt onto his fantasy grave. Stanton's fantasy value gets an additional bump because he gained outfield eligibility by standing in the outfield for exactly 20 games to keep his hot bat in the lineup while Aaron Judge was dealing with his throwing arm problem. Stanton's 600 PA projection numbers would be amazing, but he has not had that many plate appearances since 2018, and something always breaks down on him. Expect 450 PA, 25 homers and a .240 average and happily accept anything above that from someone who no longer clogs up your utility spot. Read Past Outlooks
Not cleared to run yet
Stanton (calf) has not been cleared to resume running, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis
Stanton hopes to resume hitting this weekend, but there's no word on when he will be cleared to run, and a timeline for his return to the active roster won't come into focus until that happens. The designated hitter suffered a low-grade right calf strain one week ago.

Stat Review
How does Giancarlo Stanton compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Yes, it would be outstanding if we could see the version of Stanton that surfaced in the 2024 postseason for longer stretches of the regular season. Stanton hit seven homers and drove in 16 runs in October, reminding us of how good he was as recently as 2021. Twenty twenty-four was not 2021, but it was certainly an improvement from his previous two seasons, as he hit more homers than he did in 2023 while raising his batting average 42 points from that season as well. Stanton still cannot stay on the active roster enough to play even 120 games in a season, as he has failed to reach that total in each of the past three seasons. He is also a human statue, both in stature and in running speed. Somehow, he is in the third percentile in sprint speed, meaning there are a handful of players who move slower than him. It is why Stanton is the only player in history to twice hit at least 25 homers in a season while scoring fewer than 50 runs in that season. The Stanton experience is simple: You roster him because you need homers. He will drive in runs, miss 40 games and hurt your average in the process. His utility-only penalty helps keep his power at a decent price, but expecting any more than what he did in 2024 is getting greedy.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Offering elite bat speed
Stanton ranks first in MLB with an average bat speed of 80.6 mph, per Baseball Savant.
Analysis
Stanton has consistently ranked near the top of the league in exit velocity and hard-hit rate throughout his career, and that remains true in 2024 with those figures at 93.2 mph and 52.8 percent, respectively. It's not a surprise that his bat speed is also elite, though he's hitting just .236 with a career-worst 34.0 percent strikeout rate. The power is still there, as he's hit nine homers to go along with 21 RBI and 19 runs, but Stanton doesn't offer much else for fantasy managers at this point.
