George Klassen

Klassen finished 2025 on a roll, striking out 40 batters while walking 12 with a 1.55 ERA over 29 innings -- including his first career start at Triple-A. The 6-foot-2 righty, who turned 24 this winter, has some of the best pure stuff in the minors (dominant fastball, two monster breaking balls), but walks have often held him back. He cut his walk rate from 17.3 percent in seven starts at Double-A to close 2024 to 9.7 percent in 25 starts this year (24 at Double-A, one at Triple-A) while logging a career-high 108.2 innings. His command still comes and goes, and he had six starts last year in which he gave up five or more earned runs, although he also had seven starts with eight or more strikeouts. Klassen's below-average command may push him to the bullpen eventually, but the Angels figure to give him every opportunity to develop as a starting pitcher over the next couple years. He is even a dark horse candidate to win a big-league rotation spot this spring. Read Past Outlooks
