2026 Fantasy Outlook
Holliday received the largest bonus ($9 million) in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft after the Rockies selected him fourth overall, but he struck out 39.3 percent of the time in his debut at Single-A. The younger brother of Jackson and son of Matt, Ethan comes from a baseball family and has been on the national radar for a few years because of it. Both Holliday brothers bat from the left side, and Ethan, who is listed at 6-foot-4, is at least three inches taller than his brother and has broader shoulders. Unlike Jackson, Ethan probably won't be much of a factor on the bases. The big selling point is Holliday's power potential. He could hit 30-plus homers annually at peak while playing half his games in Coors Field. Not everyone believed in Holliday's hit tool as an amateur, and his 59.9 percent contact rate and 16.7 percent swinging-strike rate in 84 plate appearances against Single-A pitchers are a couple more indicators that this could be an extreme power-over-hit profile. May 29, 2026
Holliday will undergo surgery for a stress fracture in his left foot and miss the rest of the 2026 season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Holliday underwent several examinations after being removed from Single-A Fresno's lineup last week due to a left foot injury. The injury is severe enough to require surgery and will sideline the 19-year-old prospect for the rest of the 2026 season. He'll end the season slashing .262/.395/.557 with one steal, two triples, nine home runs and 32 RBI across 152 plate appearances.
