Gets $1.025 million from Royals
Lynch agreed to a one-year, $1.025 million contract with the Royals on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Lynch finished the 2025 campaign with a 3.06 ERA across 67.2 innings, although his 4.75 FIP indicates he may have been fortunate to get those results. He'll pick up a slight raise for 2026 and figures to continue working in a multi-inning relief role for the Royals.

Lynch spent a lot of time on the Edward Olivares Memorial Interstate between Kansas City and Omaha again in 2024. He pitched in 162.2 innings between the two cities with over 70 percent of that coming for the Omaha Stormchasers. Lynch, in doing so, is pitching up to his potential because he is the prototypical swing man. His overall numbers were ruined by back-to-back outings in which he gave up 14 runs over 10.2 innings while starting one game and bulking in another, as he otherwise pitched to a 0.55 ERA in his other major league appearances, with 32 strikeouts and six walks in 29.2 innings of work. Lynch really is not needed in the rotation with the full return of Bubic, but could play a key role in the bullpen as a lefty who could fill a Luke Weaver-like role in Kansas City. His migration to a heavier fastball/slider/changeup approach by season's end may be Kansas City telling us it agrees with this suggested career path.

Early exit from rehab start
Lynch, who is rehabbing from a finger injury left Wednesday's rehab outing early after experiencing soreness in his finger, reports Anne Rogers of MLB.com.
Analysis
In his first rehab start since going on the injured list with a blister, Lynch tossed three innings and allowed two runs on five hits and three walks. Royals manager Mike Matheny did not appear worried by the soreness and declared Lynch was still "moving in the right direction." The start Wednesday lines Lynch up for a possible return Monday when Kansas City has a doubleheader with Detroit.
