Lewis is coming off a disappointing season as he had an ugly 7.27 ERA and 87:68 K:BB ratio in 73 innings at Triple-A. He did miss time last season with a right shoulder injury, which may have had a big impact on his results. He showed promise in 2024 with a a 2.59 ERA and 10.9 K/9 at Double-A. Lewis has had an unusual career path as he's increasingly incorporated a nuckleball in his arsenal. Cleared from shoulder issue
Lewis (shoulder) has allowed five earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings in two appearances for Double-A Wichita since being assigned to the affiliate Wednesday after being reinstated from Triple-A St. Paul's 7-day injured list.
Analysis
Lewis was shut down in spring training due to a right shoulder strain and opened the season on the shelf for St. Paul before he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment April 17. Over five rehab appearances between Single-A Fort Myers and the rookie-level Florida Complex League, Lewis struggled to regain form, posting a 6.00 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in nine innings. Though he's seemingly healthy again, Lewis will need to find success at Wichita before St. Paul brings him aboard as a potential rotation option.

Lewis missed most of the first half of last season with a shoulder injury, but quickly returned to form in June with a 2.59 ERA and 10.9 K/9 at Double-A. Lewis has a large mix of pitches, including a knuckleball. He's a little older than his competition at age 24 and doesn't have a high pedigree (ninth-round pick in 2022), but continues to advance in the system. He'll begin the season at Triple-A and could surprise if his knuckleball can become a significant weapon.
