Inks minor-league deal with Halos
Taylor signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Taylor was with the Angels for spring training but was unsuccessful in making the team's Opening Day roster. He initially opted out of his contract March 20, but the veteran outfielder will return to the organization and likely play for Triple-A Salt Lake. Taylor appeared in 58 regular-season games between the Angels and Dodgers in 2025 and would be in line for a major-league call-up if the Angels require additional depth in the outfield.

Taylor's strikeout struggles caught up to him in 2024, as he was limited to just 87 games and 246 plate appearances. A nearly month-long IL stint contributed to his decrease in playing time, but even when healthy he made just 56 starts. Over the past three seasons, Taylor has posted a 33.3% strikeout rate -- the 11th-worst mark among MLB players with at least 500 PAs. Taylor had managed to keep some fantasy value afloat by logging double-digit homers and steals each season from 2021 to 2023, but he sunk to just four long balls and five thefts last year, and his .298 OBP and .098 ISO each represented his lowest mark (by far) in any campaign that he's logged at least 200 PAs. Los Angeles has kept Taylor on its roster due in part to both his previous contributions and his versatility as a super utility player (not to mention his substantial contract, the guaranteed portion of which ends after the 2025 season), but his days as being even an end-of-draft fantasy roster-filler may be behind him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Time might be up with Dodgers
Taylor doesn't have a locker in the Dodgers clubhouse ahead of Sunday's game against the Angels, reports David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports.
Analysis
Tommy Edman could return from the injured list Sunday after missing time due to an ankle injury, and it appears Taylor will be the roster casualty. It's a long time coming for the utility man, as Taylor had a .598 OPS in 246 plate appearances last year and has struggled even more through 28 games this year with just seven hits in 35 at-bats. The 34-year-old is making $13 million this year and has a $12 million club option with a $4 million buyout for 2026, so he's likely to pass through waivers unclaimed if designated for assignment.
