Colmenarez has gone 3-for-15 (all singles) through his first five pro games with the Rays' Dominican Summer League affiliate.
ANALYSIS
He made his debut in mid-August, and while he hasn't shown a whole lot statistically in this extremely tiny sample, it's worth noting that the 17-year-old shortstop has struck out just a single time while drawing two walks in his 21 plate appearances. At his tender age, the Rays are more concerned about his overall development than his statistical production, and fantasy managers should take a similar angle, as Colmenarez is considered one of the very best prospects from this past offseason's signing class.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2021
A lefty-hitting infielder who turned 19 in November, Colmenarez was fine in his stateside debut (.379 OBP, 120 wRC+) in the Florida Complex League, but he is nowhere near the prospect those who paid up for him a couple years ago in first-year player drafts were hoping to have at this point. A 26.8 K% and .127 ISO is a really rough combination for a player whose hit and power tools were supposed to carry the day. He had impressive bat speed as an amateur, and notable game power needs to show up sooner than later.
A lefty-hitting shortstop from Venezuela, Colmenarez is one of the top fantasy prospects from this most recent international signing class. He received $3 million from the Rays on Jan. 15, 2021 and boasts plus raw power to all fields. He measures in at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds and generates impressive torque with a compact swing. Colmenarez projects to hit for average and power and should stick at shortstop. Given his frame, he may not be much of a speedster when he reaches the majors, but it's too soon to rule out double-digit steal seasons early in his career. His calling card, however, is his offensive potential. The hope is for a plus hit tool with plus power, but given his current raw power, he may develop plus-plus power if he maxes out. He should head to the Gulf Coast League for his pro debut.

Colmenarez is expected to sign with the Rays once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
A 5-foot-10 shortstop from Venezuela, Colmenarez turned 16 in November and is a long way from being big-league ready. He is a smooth defender who has some thump in his compact left-handed swing. Colmenarez is expected to command a seven-figure bonus.
