June 11, 2020
The Royals have selected Hernandez with the 41st overall pick in the 2020 first-year player draft.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez was ranked well below 41 on several pre-draft rankings. The Chicago-based high schooler is quite a ways away from the big leagues, but he's not without potential. The 6-foot-2 righty locates his fastball well, a pitch which can hit 95 mph. His changeup, which sits in the low 80s and features plenty of movement, is by far his best pitch and was considered by some to be the best in the 2020 high school class, but his curveball is an unremarkable third offering, and there's not much projection left on his frame despite his young age.
