Rest-of-Season Projections
Off to strong start at Low-A
Vera, who was promoted to Low-A Inland Empire late last week, went 2-for-6 with one RBI, one steal and two strikeouts in his first game above rookie ball.
ANALYSIS
The Angels' top international signee in 2019, Vera is hitting .318/.382/.464 with zero home runs and three steals on five attempts through 39 games across the two levels. He will turn 19 in September, so this is a good test. His stock could really skyrocket if he continues to hit for a high average while potentially tapping into some over-the-fence power over the final few weeks of the season.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
One of the top prospects in the July 2, 2019 international signing class, Vera received a $2 million bonus from the Angels. His scouting report has changed quite a bit since he was an amateur. Once a skinny Venezuelan shortstop, the switch-hitting Vera is now 6-foot-3, 187 pounds and destined for third base. That added physicality has translated at the dish, as he now projects to grow into plus power, although he won't be much of a threat on the bases. He already controls the strike zone and should draw his fair share of walks in his pro debut. There is a clear hierarchy as this J-2 class prepares to debut this summer. Jasson Dominguez sits alone at the top, while Erick Pena is alone in tier two. Luis Rodriguez, Maximo Acosta and Robert Puason come next. Vera probably slots in sixth, at least among position players, so he makes for a nice high-upside consolation prize in first-year player drafts.
