2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ramirez burst onto the scene in 2025 with four doubles and three home runs in his first five career games, and 12 extra-base hits in his first 15 games. Traded from New York to Miami in the 2024 Jazz Chisholm deal, Ramirez ultimately totaled 55 extra-base hits as a rookie, tying Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez for the most in team history for a catcher. He also surprised many by stealing 16 bags, most among catchers last season. While he may not be a burner, ranking in the bottom third of the league in sprint speed, the stolen-base element is one he previously displayed in the minors (22 steals in 24 attempts between Double-A and Triple-A in 2024). Ramirez remained efficient on the basepaths in his first major-league season, only getting caught three times in 19 attempts. If his poor defensive grades are any indication, Ramirez won't be playing catcher much longer, but for the time being, he offers a rare profile at the position. The numbers get a scarcity bump in two-catcher leagues. Read Past Outlooks
Swipes bag in win
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies.
Analysis
Ramirez reached base in three straight plate appearances after grounding out in the first inning, picking up his first steal of the season in the third. The sophomore catcher served as the designated hitter Saturday, suggesting he should see near-everyday run moving forward. After tallying 21 home runs and 16 stolen bases across 136 games as a rookie, the 24-year-old offers 20-20 potential at the catcher position in 2026.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
He's not a great defensive catcher, but Ramirez does enough things well to likely carve out a prominent role for Miami as early as this summer. Agustin makes his share of weak contact (23.7 Soft%), but he struck out 18.6 percent of the time and walked at an 11.3 percent clip, leading to a .361 OBP last year while splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A as a 22-year-old. He's not fast, but he stole 22 bases in 24 attempts and hit 25 homers in 126 games. The Marlins acquired Ramirez at the deadline along with two other prospects in exchange for Jazz Chisholm, and while there's nobody to really contend with at the big-league level (Nick Fortes has been worth 0.6 fWAR each of the last two seasons), Double-A catcher Joe Mack represents a viable challenger for catcher work in the coming years. Ramirez's poor defense could lead to him getting significant run at designated hitter, which could result in him being a top 10 fantasy catcher in terms of plate appearances during his prime.
