2026 Fantasy Outlook
It had been clear for a while that Ford's fantasy value would get a boost with a trade out of Seattle, where he was never going to play enough behind Cal Raleigh. The Nationals acquired Ford in exchange for Jose Ferrer in a one-for-one swap this offseason, and now Ford's path to a prominent role in the majors is clearer. He has a career .405 on-base percentage in the minors while always being young for his levels. Ford only attempted 11 steals in 97 games last year at Triple-A, but he stole between 23 and 35 bases each year from 2022-2024. He still projects to be among the stolen-base leaders at catcher on a per-plate-appearance basis. Ford has always been an OBP over batting average and hit over power prospect, and he needs to be playing regularly for that profile to pay off in fantasy. Ford's defense is good enough, but not great, and with Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams out of minor-league options, Ford will need to impress in camp to win a spot on the Opening Day roster. That said, even if Ford opens the year at Triple-A, he's likely to finish the year atop the big-league depth chart. Read Past Outlooks
