Very little about Alcantara has changed over the past couple minor-league seasons. He remains a premium athlete in a 6-foot-6 frame with power, speed, patience and a questionable hit tool. Alcantara has essentially moved through the minors at a one level per year pace, but he finished 2023 on a heater after missing time with a leg injury and got a brief taste of Double-A after spending most of the year at High-A. He has the arm for right field, and his above-average speed could allow him to be a plus defensive outfielder in a corner. He may even be able to stick in center field despite his size. Alcantara had seven strikeouts in his first five games at Double-A, and his strikeout rate in a return to that level will be the key to whether he climbs up rankings or stagnates. Read Past Outlooks
