It's been a slow walk through the minors for Alexander, a 2018 11th-round draft pick that parlayed a strong 2022 season at Double-A Amarillo into a spot on the 40-man roster and shot at Triple-A Reno in 2023. He started strong but fractured a thumb in April that sidelined him for two months. The 24-year-old infielder finished with an .865 OPS and .281 average, fueled by a .398 BABIP. The power added in 2022 fell off, which may be attributed to the injury. The pop complemented his flashy fielding and arm (his best tool). As a shortstop by trade, Alexander sits behind Jordan Lawlar and Geraldo Perdomo on the major-league roster.
